Hello all,
Judy and I have had a wonderful time here in Champlin, MN. Now it's time to get ready and make the long drive back to Bridgman.
Here's an update on what we have been up to since last Thursday. We decided to stay here an extra day since we really didn't get to spend much time with Mark and Erin since they were gone on the Boundary Waters adventure most of the time.
Let me back up to Friday, however.
It was very hot here on Friday, up into the 90's. We had planned on going to a zoo near St. Paul but decided not to drag Westin and ourselves around in the heat and wind looking at overheated animals. We just stayed in most of the day. I did however make a trip to Radio City, a kind of local ham radio store. It's the only such store in the Minneapolis area and it's also only about 20 mins from M & E's place. How convenient!
Saturday we didn't do anything special in the morning. I took the dog for a walk. In the afternoon after Westin's nap we went to Westin's other grandparents, Albert and Mary Zuberts for an evening meal. We had a nice visit and showed them videos of Westin's first birthday party in Michigan in June. Albert and I played horseshoes after supper and had an enjoyable time.
Sunday it was up and get ready to go Duluth again to meet Mark, Erin, Ben and Melissa, upon their return from the Boundary Waters expedition. They got back to Duluth around 5:30 PM or so. Prior to that Judy, Westin and I visited the railroad museum in downtown Duluth. If you like railroad museums this one is worth visiting. They also run excursion trains daily. Next time we go there I would definitely like to take the excursion.
Oh prior to downtown Duluth we drove on the skyline parkway above the city. It has some very nice views of the area including the St. Louis river and Lake Superior.
Anyway, after the reunion with the wear travelers, Ben and Melissa parted ways with us and the 5 of us headed back to Champlin, stopping along the way for a tank of gas and some refreshments at McDonalds. We arrived back home in Champlin around 8:30 or so.
Well, check out the pictures and please leave a comment if you have been reading our posts.
Hope to be back in MI by 9 or so.
Ron and Judy
